Description: | The data analysis software for the NSA Met_tower system was upgraded at 2200 GMT
on 8 SEP 1999. The upgrade included replacement of missing data with -99.99's
when the routine that polled the Met-tower sensors timed out. This
resulted in large negative spikes in the 1-min averages. These spikes
almost always occurred during the first several 1-min periods of a
half-hour data processing routine.
On 25 OCT 1999 at 2300 the routine that replaced missing data was changed to
insert the previous 1-min averaged data instead of -99.99. Since at the most
only one or two values are missing in ay averaging period, this change
results in a reasonable estimate of the true mean values |
