Description: | Massive shading issue on 12/16 through 12/18. It was obviously found and resolved on
12/18. On 12/22 it looks like the shadowband stops functioning altogether. (It is likely it
slipped on the motor shaft.) It continues like this until 12/28 @ 1630 when an attempt
was made fix the problem. This was somewhat successful, but there is still a shading
problem in the afternoon between 1730 and 2300 until 01/09/2008.
Some data from 12/28/2007 - 01/09/2008 will be OK. Don't use data between the hours 1730
and 2300. Avoid data from other dates described in this DQR. |

Description: | The E13 MFRSR developed a shading problem on or about 05/04. (The exact date when this
problem started is difficult to pin down exactly.) The shading problem is easy to identify
on a clear day because plots of direct beam and diffuse irradiance versus time become
"fuzzy". The total irradiance is not affected.
In response to the shading problem, a whole sequence of events then ensued: these actions
were designed to solve the shading problem but did not succeed until the very end.
Here's a rundown of what took place:
98/05/11 - shadowband adjustment was made at 1544 GMT
- this adjustment corrected the shading problem that
occurred in the morning, but inadvertently caused
a PM shading problem
98/05/20 - shadowband adjustment at 1804 GMT
98/05/21 - shadowband adjustment at 1630 GMT
98/06/01 - shadowband adjustment at 1910 GMT
98/06/02 - shadowband adjustmnet at 1550 GMT
Alas, these adjustments did not solve the shading problem and
it seemed to get worse (for example, on 06/11 the shading
is VERY BAD from sunup until about 1500 LST).
98/06/16 - shadowband adjustment at 1715 GMT
This final adjustment seems to a solved the problem! |

Description: | After the A/D convertor lock-up was corrected on 981014, the irradiances as measured by
the MFRSR were about 20% too high. 981018 is a particular egregious example of measured
irradiances that are too large. Cause of the problem is not known, though suspect some
moisture got into the instrument (this was a period of much precipitation). After 981024,
the MFRSR settled down and the irradiances returned to a normal range. |

centered about local noon. The shading problem was solved on about 05/13 at 2000 GMT. |
