Description: | Following a power outage at the site both a PID controller for the main sample flow as well as a circuit board on the reference nephelometer were inoperable. The PID controller was replaced on 5/18 and the neph circuit board was replaced on 6/22. On a site visit in August the mentor found the PID had not been programmed correctly and was reading erroneous flows. The actual flow was at 50% of the recorded flow. Because the sample flow is diluted by 50% this makes most if not all of the sample flow from 5/18 to 8/11 from the diluter. |

The instrument was return to Boulder, CO for repair. The diaphragm pump was repaired and the flows re-calibrated. The instrument was returned to service 20071113. The CCN data show qualitative changes in the number of droplets formed with changes in supersaturation. Because the pump was not working properly and the flows were likely incorrect, the numbers are not quantitative. |

Upon consultation with the manufacturer, DMT, it was predicted that the OPC detector was clogged or misaligned. I had the tech, Carlos, remove the detector and ship it back to Boulder. The detector was cleaned. An o-ring for a lens wasn't properly seated. The OPC was sent back to GRW and installed. Data looks normal after the reinstallation on July 13th. |

Dust was prevalent at the site and likely contributed to the CCN signal such that large dust particles appeared as droplets. |
