Description: | NCEP Central Operations moved the suite of operational models to a new supercomputer on 2005-01-25. Unfortunately, the code they used to build the executables for this new machine did not contain the changes made to the RUC analysis code on 2004-09-29. (See the posts on the RUC forum: http://ruc.fsl.noaa.gov/forum/f2/Welcome.cgi/read/1288 made around 2004-09-28 for more information.) The result was some odd temperature and dew point analyses (and resultant forecasts) during this period and some general dryness. The error was found 2005-02-02, and the newest version of the code was introduced back into the model in the afternoon. Unfortunately, due to cycling, some of the errors remained, so a new first guess (from a version of the model containing the updated code) was brought in for the 19Z cycle on February 3rd. |
