Subject:
MAO/SASHE/M1 - AOS mast shading SASHe collector
DataStreams:maosashevislowsunM1.a0, maosashenirlowsunM1.a0, maosashenirhisunM1.a0, maosashevisM1.b1,
maosashenirM1.b1, maosashevishisunM1.a0
Description:
The SASHe collector was experiencing shading from the nearby AOS mast during the early
morning. The time when the shadow falls across the SASHe varies somewhat but it occurs
roughly in the 3 hour interval from 13:00-16:00 UT. It shows up as a direct normal
irradiance dropping to zero or near zero. It is possible to distinguish this from actual cloud
cover by examination of the MFRSR direct irradiance.
Suggestions:
Do not use SASHe direct solar measurements during impacted periods. The diffuse

hemispheric irradiance should be OK.
