Description:	The battery condition deteriorated over time so that the solar panel and AC charger were not always able to keep the battery voltage high enough to produce correct data after 3 December 1997, especially at night. The condition became particularly bad after 8 December 1997. Data for conditions of battery voltage below 10.4 volts should be considered incorrect; inspection of the battery voltage data is required to determine this. The battery was replaced on 6 January 1998 at 1840 GMT, after which data was again correct.
Suggestions:	Do not use data where the battery voltage is below 10.4 volts.
