Description: | There were no sondes launced during this period because there was no helium on site and the hydrogen generator was not working. The hydrogen generator was repaired and launches resumed. |

Description: | Message from Bill Moninger, Forecast Systems Laboratory on April 29, 1999 Today, we implemented changes in the ACARS QC processing that effect the dewpoint data in both the java and non-java displays, as well as in the downloadable netCDF data. The new netCDF version number is 2.2. We processed this data retroactively for a few hours, so this version starts at 21 UTC on 28 April 1999. This version fixed a bug in the processing of vapor-sensing aircraft that caused the dewpoint to be 0 degree to 5 degree (C) too cold, with the largest errors occurring at high mach numbers (which occur at high altitudes). Generally errors in dewpoint below 15,000 ft have been less than 3 degree C. |
