Subject: | SGP/MFRSR/E22 - Data not quality assured |
DataStreams: | sgpmfrsrE22.a0, sgpmfrsrE22.b1 |
Description: | Data from October 1, 1999 through March 2001 from MFRSR.E22 should be used with caution. During this time period only minimal quality control and maintenance were provided to the SGP extended facility MFRSRs because these data were considered to be of questionable value under the best of circumstances. That decision was reversed in 2001 when Joe Michalsky identified a means to make the MFRSR data scientifically useable. In the interim, the MFRSRs developed problems with shading, leveling, calibration and all-out hardware failures and the stock of spare MFRSRs was depleted and not replenished. Most of the shading and leveling problems have now been corrected in the field as well as possible, but almost all of the extended facilty MFRSRs still need to be recalibrated or replaced. |

Description: | The instrument was replaced on 20060104 but there was a problem with the calibration file. The calibration issue has now been resolved and a request has been submitted to reprocess the data in the time range covered by this DQR. When that has been accomplished, this DQR will be negated. |

Subject: | SGP/MFRSR/E22 - Noisy Data |
DataStreams: | sgpmfrsrE22.a0, sgpmfrsrE22.b1 |
Description: | Data were noisy. This site received a refurbished head and Campbell datalogger in August 2007. The noise results from an incorrect setting in the logger code. The program was updated on 1/16/2008 @ 1900, and data from that point on are fine. |

Description: | A shading problem was first evident on 20090116. It affected data from sunrise to 1900. There was a severe winter storm on the 26th and 27th and it affected several instruments. On the 28th the shading problem was much worse, affecting the entire day through to 30th when it looks like an attempt to align the band was made at ~1630. From that point on the problem shifted to the afternoon, with the affected hours from 1930 until sunset. The shading issue continued until 20090423 @1830 when maintenance resolved the issue. Note that there is a large data gap in the period covered by this DQR. Data are missing from 20090211 @1900 through 20090327 @1300. |

Description: | Some significant head temp variation on the 6th, 9th and 10th. With the new systems, temp variation like this causes problems in the data that look like shading issues. Avoid using data on these days. |
