Subject: | SBS/MWR/S1 - Reprocessed: Incorrect retrievals |
DataStreams: | sbsmwrlosS1.b1, sbsmwrtipS1.a1 |
Description: | The water vapor and cloud liquid water retrievals were incorrect for lack of radiosondes to derive retrieval coefficients. At the end of the deployment, the mentor provided new retrieval coefficients and the MWRLOS data were reprocessed and archived. The MWRTIP data have not yet been reprocessed. The correction of these data are in the reprocessing queue at a low priority. |

Subject: | SBS/MWR3C/M1 - Radiometer unstable |
DataStreams: | sbsmwr3cM1.b1 |
Description: | The noise diode was unstable and the instrument was unable to calibrate. In addition the instrument did not have a rain mitigation system during the SBS deployment, therefore snow and dew stayed on the lens affecting the measurements. |

Subject: | SBS/MWR3C/M1 - Incorrect elevation angles |
DataStreams: | sbsmwr3cM1.b1 |
Description: | The radiometer positioner froze because of very cold temperatures and was unable to complete azimuth and elevation scanning. The nominal azimuth and elevation angles recorded in the file are incorrect. |

Subject: | SBS/MWR3C/M1 - Period of instability |
DataStreams: | sbsmwr3cM1.b1 |
Description: | The DPI positioner that moves the two receivers was malfunctioning causing several software crashes and a general instability in the instrument. |

Subject: | SBS/MWR3C/M1 - Intermittent thermal instability |
DataStreams: | sbsmwr3cM1.b1 |
Description: | The radiometers reset the thermal control every time the software was started at 00:00 UTC. It took about an hour to reestablish the thermal control of the instrument after each reset. On Jan 27 a workaround was introduced to avoid this behavior. The software will be modified at the next release. |

Subject: | SBS/MWR3C/M1 - W-band receiver unstable |
DataStreams: | sbsmwr3cM1.b1 |
Description: | Starting on Jan 27 the W-band receiver experienced extended periods of thermal instability. The origin of the problem was identified as faulty power connectors to the receiver. On Feb 22 the the brackets and mini J-Box were replaced. |

Subject: | SBS/MWR/S1 - Interference spikes |
DataStreams: | sbsmwrlosS1.b1, sbsmwrtipS1.a1 |
Description: | Interference spikes appear in the data affecting mostly the 23.8 GHz channel and to a lesser extend the 30 GHz channel. Some days are more affected than others. The number of spikes varies between 1 and ~ 5 per day. The data are mostly unaffected except for the short time interval during which the interference takes place (usually one or two data points). |
