Subject: | SGP/SIRS/E20 - Reprocess: Incorrect calibration coefficients |
DataStreams: | sgpsirsE20.00 |
Description: | Sometime during the day of 12/27/2004(first avialable day of data) or 12/24-12/26 (no archive data available) the SIRS datalogger at E20 was loaded with an old version of an E20 program. The calibration coefficients and serial numbers do not match those installed. Field techs installed a correct datalogger program on 1/19/2005 1900GMT. However, sometime during 1/20/2005 the datalogger reverted to the wrong program again without user intervention. On 2/16/2005 the correct SIRS program was reloaded on the E20 datalogger. |

Subject: | SGP/SIRS/E20 - Downwelling Shortwave PSP Damaged by Lightning |
DataStreams: | sgpsirsE20.00 |
Description: | The PSP was damaged by a lightning strike on 8/04/05 (22:10 GMT). Data from other radiometers are good after this event. The PSP, NIP and shaded 8-48 were replaced 8/17/05 and the system returned to service at 18:40 GMT. Downwelling Shortwave (DS) data from the unshaded PSP during this period is reported as 0.0 W/sq m. The DS can be computed from available Direct Normal (NIP), Downwelling Diffuse (DD), and the computed Solar Zenith Angle (SZA) using the following equation: DS = NIP * Cos(SZA) + DD Estimated uncertainties of the computed values are actually lower than those of the measured DS (+/- 3% or 4% vs. +/- 5% to 10% respectively, depending on SZA). |

DataStreams: | sgpsirsE20.00 |
Description: | Afer recovery from lightening strike the upwelling longwave SIRS Eppley PIR (UIR) has had noise on both dome and case thermistor measurements. On 4/12/2006 techs replaced defective j-panel at base of tower. |

DataStreams: | sgpsirsE19.00, sgpsirsE20.00 |
Description: | Ice storms affected the SGP central and extended facilities starting Dec 10 0000GMT to mid/late December. Each facility was affected at various times and degrees dependant on elevation, latitude and whether power failed for short or extended periods of time. By December 15th most ice had melted from the radiometers at all the faclities but power outages and tracker failures persisted at some stations. |
