SGP/AERI/C1 - Cryocooler failure
DataStreams:sgpaeriC1.00
Description:
During this time period the cryocooler began to fail and was eventually replaced.

Subject:
SGP/AERI/C1 - Instrument run in slow sample mode.
DataStreams:sgpaeriC1.00
Description:
Data is fine but the instrument was run in slow sample mode for these 3 days. We had
changed the digital meter followed by a short 3rd body test that is run in slow sample mode.
The instrument wasn't not switched back to rapid sample mode during this period.

SGP/AERI/C1 - Reprocess: Spectral calibration to change
DataStreams:sgpaeriC1.00
Description:
The AERI interferometer laser was changed in the field causing the spectral calibration to
change. Effects will be more noticeable for higher wavenumber data. Unless doing trace
gas retrievals likely won't notice much of a change once the reprocessed data is in place.

SGP Site Power Outage Due to Winter Storm
DataStreams:sgpaeriC1.00
Description:
On Saturday and Sunday, December 26 and 27th a powerful winter storm (Goliath) brought
sleet and freezing rain to much of Oklahoma with wind gusts of 45 MPH at times. The result
was very very slick roads and mass power outages.

The SGP central facility lost power at 8:55 PM CDT on Sunday, December 27th.
The power was restored on 7:56 PM CDT on Wednesday, December 30th

Site Emergency procedures were activated and Technicians drained water out of instrument
reservoirs and other measures as needed, early Monday morning.

On Wednesdays as roads and power started was restored to much of the areas east of I-35 ,
Site Technicians performed maintenance on several Extended Facilities.

During this period, data are potentially missing, incorrect, or suspect. Carefully
inspect the data before use.

SGP/AERI/C1 - Instrument
DataStreams:sgpaeriC1.00
Description:
The AERI mean radiance is unusable. The interferometer went into open loop mode during
this period and never found ZPD before starting to collect data.

Subject:
SGP/AERI/C1 - Reprocess: intermittent interferogram spikes.
DataStreams:sgpaeriC1.00
Description:
The AERI spectra exhibit a ringing spectral feature on an intermittent basis. The symptom
is a 'sawtooth' pattern in the spectrum. This occurs predominantly in Ch2, but also in
Ch1. Affected records are unusable and mentor team is going to identify the spikes,
remove them from the raw data and resubmit raw data to the archive.

Subject:
SGP/AERI/C1 - Radiance contaminated from optical trailer air
DataStreams:sgpaeriC1.00
Description:
Under certain conditions, the observed atmospheric radiance at the lowest level (near the
surface) is contaminated by air from inside the optical trailer. This is a result of an
inadequate seal between the AERI front-end (outside) and back-end (inside the optical
trailer), which let inside air penetrate into the first ~1 m of the AERI optical path. This
primarily affects the 540-700 cm-1 region, and retrievals and temperature and water
vapor. The result is an artifact in the amplitude of the atmospheric radiance that closely
mirrors the temperature fluctuations inside the optical trailer, specifically oscillations
with a period of 10-15 mins.
