The data acquisition software experienced a malfunction. Data were acquired intermittently 
during the effected period. The data that were acquired are not valid. The problem was 
corrected after the system was completely powered down and then back up.

Description:
The system experienced intermittent stoppages, and thus no data were collected during the 
effected periods. The reason for the stoppages are not known, but we suspect it had 
something to do with the by-passed UPS in the power supply box. The UPS was damaged due to 
water contact back in January. As a short-term temporary fix the box was rewired to by-pass 
the UPS. This allowed the lidar to run; however, as time passed, the system started to 
experience more and more intermittent stoppages. On August 15 a new UPS was installed and 
the wiring was restored to its original configuration in the hopes that this would solve 
the problem.

Description:
Time height displays of the intensity (SNR+1) and backscatter fields exhibit obvious 
horizontal banding artifacts. The bands are regions where the SNR goes negative - which isn't 
physical. The problem was caused by a glitch in the noise whitening procedure. The 
problem was fixed when the driver for the data acquisition card was updated.
The radial velocities do not exhibit obvious banding; however, they were likely affected 
in some way.

Description:
The AMF1 Doppler lidar was taken offline and packed for shipping to the vendor (Halo 
Photonics) on 28 August. Engineers at Halo will preform repairs and upgrades to the 
instrument. Data from the instrument will not be available for the remainder of the current AMF1 
deployment in Brazil.

The DL suffered from numerous outages during this period.  Some of these periods are 
longer than 24 hours while many are less.  The DL was sent off for repairs on 8/28 and will 
not be deployed again at MAO.
