Description The linear heater board failed. It took a bit longer than usual to repair this instrument. We suspect the heater boards fail due to excessive heat, so we wanted to put a cooling solution in place at the time of the heater board replacement. This was accomplished on 20100827 @ 0300 UTC. Original DQR category: 4 (Red, Incorrect). ----------------------------------------------------------- For reasons not entirely understood, on or about Jan 1, 2013 the MFRSR AOD Value Added Product began to experience infrequent but serious data corruption issues. This is evident in the data files from TWP as irradiance fields, calibrations, and AODs taking nonsense values – sometimes NaN, Inf, or other values orders of magnitude out of bounds with normal behavior. The behavior is sometimes abrupt with drastic changes observed from one day to the next, but not within a given day. This behavior was not reproducible when reprocessing on the development system. We have developed a new version of the MFRSR AOD Value Added Product using a different library suite and have confirmed successful reproduction of the existing product when the existing product was not corrupt, and consistent replacement of the corrupt periods with reliable results.

Description A refurbished system with a new logger was installed on 20100219. This was our first install in the southern hemisphere. We had an unknown software bug, and initially the instrument was set up 180 deg off in an effort to get it to shade properly. This didn't work, and I suspect is related to the weird neg dir normal values that started this DQPR. A software fix was made, and the instrument was set up correctly on 20100512.
